WARNING: This is an MSR... and there is a close encounter involved... and it's far from The Third Kind. Okay, this is my first NC-17 so be gentle (but not that gentle). I can take it. It's a little cheezy at the end, but that seems to go with the territory.

Here Comes the Rain Again by Nicole Van Dam
AKA The Warfarine Dealer
"You ready to go?"
Mulder leaned in closer to the door.
"Yeah, just a sec," came his partner's muffled reply.
They were due at the coroner's office in twenty minutes and they were already running ten behind. The motel they were staying in was so 'out-of-the-way' from the town (if you want to call it that), it took twenty minutes just to drive to the town's limits.
"Come on Scully," Mulder said, glancing at his watch. "We're ten minutes late."
The door opened suddenly; Mulder had to step back a foot or two. His partner stepped out dressed in jeans and a men's shirt which remained untucked.
"Okay, okay," she said impatiently. "I'm ready. Happy now?"
"Geez. What were doing in there? Redecorating?"
Scully gave him a withering glare. She'd almost had enough of him. First the wild goose chase, then the UFO theory which miraculously changed into the serial-killer-who-wet-the-bed-as- a-child theory, *then* there's a real, bonefied killing that has nothing to do with the case they were on, but Mulder seems to think it's connected.
Yeah, she was just about ready to throttle him.
"So can we go now?" he asked annoyed.
They'd been on fighting terms for about two days now.
"Fine," Scully replied. "Let's go."
They walked silently to the front door of the motel and stopped dead before even opening it.
It was eight o'clock, so it was dark, but it was only then that they heard the rain. They could also see it... whenever the lightning illuminated the drops.
Scully groaned and dropped her head back; her eyes closed. -Could this possibly get any worse?- she wondered.
A voice came from behind them. "Roads're closed," the manager told them, hanging up the phone. "Pretty bad storm out there. Looks like you folks gotta stay in."
"Fabulous," Scully mumbled. -Another event to add to Mulder's ever-exciting 'case-o-rama'.-
"I hate rain," Mulder grumbled. He sighed. "So what do you want to do?"
"Go to bed," Scully replied. She started back down the hallway that led to their rooms, leaving Mulder in the foyer. She was in no mood to go over her his supposed 'case details' for the rest of the night. She could be spending her time... watching TV... or something.
Scully fell onto the bed face-first; her face burying itself in the pillows. She grimaced suddenly.
"Ow," she said quietly, reaching her hand down to her jeans pocket. She extracted her keys and threw them to the floor. "God, things just..." She fought for the right word. "... Suck." Yeah, that was the word she was looking for. Nice and general.
Dana closed her eyes and listened to the rain. Her ears were distracted when she heard the door to the room next door shut.
Mulder.
Jerk.
She flipped over onto her back and stared at the ceiling. Absent-mindedly, she began counting the swirls that were made in the plaster.
It was only after she catalogued the shampoos and soap in the bathroom that she finally admitted she had nothing to do. She sat on the bed and grabbed the remote on the bedside table and clicked it on. A news man immediately assaulted her ears.
"... The storm looks as if it might last the night--" Click.
-Don't wanna hear it.-
"... But John, I thought you loved me."
"I do Sarah. But I'm also in love with Jasmine. I... I fathered her child."
Scully found herself mesmerized by the figures. -Augh!- she mentally slapped herself. -What are you watching Dana!?- She switched the station and began to mindlessly Channel Surf.
-I wonder if I could call anyone,- she thought. -Pfft! Right Dana. Who's gonna be home on a Saturday night?- Scully smiled slyly. -Hey... Isn't Marty in town?- She reached for the receiver.
Ring.
Ring.
Ring.
Click. "Okay, someone's gonna get hurt," came a annoyed, but familiar voice.
"Hey Jackie," Scully said. "How's it going?"
Jackie St. George sighed. "It was going great until the phone rang... What's the matter?"
Dana shrugged. "Nothin'," she replied. "Just bored... We're rained in over here."
St. George cleared her throat. "Yeah, well... So are we... But it's a good thing." Scully heard a rustle on the other end. "Oh, hey Dana. Nice hearin' from ya' and all, but I gotta go... Um... The kettle's boiling."
Click.
Scully hung the phone up with a sigh. Well, she was right about Marty...
There was a knock at the door. Dana looked at it before she turned the TV off and answered it.
"Hey."
It was Mulder. Scully just stared at him; an eyebrow raised.
He cleared his throat. "Um, yeah... Can I come in?" Dana stepped aside without a word. He sat in the chair beside the window. "I want to apologize," he said finally.
"So...?"
Mulder rubbed his chin, staring at the cards in front of him. A King. A Queen. A Jack. A seven and an eight. Okay. He could do one of two things. He could discard the seven and eight hoping and praying to get a nine and a ten, or he could fold, giving Scully the... tenth victory.
-That's not going to happen.-
"Two," he said, throwing the cards into the pile between them.
"Two it is," she announced, dealing him the cards. "Dealer stands."
"What?"
Scully smiled. "Deal-er s-tands," she repeated slowly.
Mulder frowned and looked at his cards. -Yes! The ten and nine!- All right. He had a straight. That wasn't all that bad. It was an okay hand... Depending on what she had...
"Straight," he started, putting his hand on the bed beside the discard pile.
"I'm glad you're proud Mulder. But I'm not interested in a relationship."
Mulder smiled faintly. "Ha ha. What've you got?"
"Four of a kind," she said. "Kings."
"Kings!?" Mulder cried. "But I had one!"
Scully chuckled, shaking her head. "Did you forget that you said that twos were wild?"
Mulder began a protest. "I... Did do that, didn't I."
-Okay. This is it.-
He had the five, the four, the eight and the Jack of spades and the ten of diamods. All he needed was another spade and he'd have a straight flush. Then almost nothing could beat it... Unless Scully got either a four or five of a kind, or a royal flush. But that was not very likely. He'd been smart this time around and didn't call anything wild.
-I've got her now.-
"One," he said.
Scully raised an eyebrow. "One?" she asked. "Are you sure about that?"
"Y... no... Yes I am... Stop that."
Dana chuckled and dealt him the one card.
It was a club.
"Arrrggghhh!" Mulder fell onto his back, moving the bed slightly and tossing the rest of his hand aside. The blanket at the bottom of the bed crumpled under his back and he pulled it out forcefully; placing it on the side of the bed.
Scully laughed. "What's the matter?"
He held the offending card up. "I just got clubbed."
"And that means what?"
"I lost."
Dana put her hand down and rested her hands on the bed on either side of Mulder's head; leaning over him, bracing herself on her arms. Her hair curtained each side of her face and she tossed her head to the right; clearing the left side. She smiled. "But you don't know what I've got," she said softly.
He looked up at her with a wide grin; not fazed by her actions in the least. He decided to take the safer comment that was running through his mind. "It has to be better than a hand of spades and a club."
"Well, well, well," she said. "Aren't we being Mr. Clairvoyant."
"I didn't think you believed in clairvoyance Scully."
She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I don't."
Mulder turned his head to one side; listening for the rain. It still pelted the window pane and he sighed. "I wish that would stop," he said.
"Don't you like rain?" Scully asked.
"No. I hate it." He turned back to face her. "W--" His voice caught in his throat. He looked up at his partner who was still positioned over him. The faint smile on her face causing him to hold his bottom lip in between his teeth. The was a short silence of them just watching each other before: "So, does this mean that you've forgiven me?" he asked with a playful grin.
Dana's smile widened. "I'll always forgive you," she told him. "In exchange for the bodily harm I can inflict you with."
"Oooo," Mulder said with his eyebrows raised. "Kinky."
Scully smiled. "Touche," she replied. She grabbed the collar of his t-shirt and backed off him; pulling him into the sitting position.
"So what *did* you have?" he asked.
"Nothing," she answered.
"No, really."
"Really." She handed him her hand. She was right.
"So I could have bluffed a win," Mulder said.
Scully stifled a laugh. "You wouldn't've won. I'm too good at bluffing."
"Oh really? I'll to try that sometime."
She moved closer to him with a confident smile. "Are you sure you want to do that Agent Mulder?"
Mulder wasn't phased by her in the least. "Why not?" he countered. "I believe that trying you is what I do best. Take this evening for example." He smiled as he felt her breath on his face.
"Are you saying that I can't handle you?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
Mulder's grin turned sly. "Are you saying you can?"
Too many thoughts clouded her mind. One wanted to clock him, the other wanted yell at him. What could she do to counter that comment? There was no way she was going to let him have the last word this time. It just wasn't going to happen. She chewed on her lip, fighting with herself for a few seconds, before she took the most prominent idea.
She leaned forward and kissed him.
Grabbing hold of his shirt, she eased him onto his back, his head close to the foot of the bed. Mulder, taken completely off-guard, let her do what she wanted. Hell, like it was hurting him any. She pulled back and gazed into his eyes; the smile long gone from either of their faces.
Fox cleared his throat; his chest heaving. "Didn't you just get me out of this position?" he asked.
"What if I like you like this?" she replied, her voice hinted with seduction.
There was a short silence, while a smile played at the corners of his mouth. "Then I guess I'm gonna have to get used to it..."
He brought a hand to the back of her head and pulled her into another kiss. This time much more urgent. Scully eased her weight onto him and parted her lips, prompting Mulder to do the same. Her partner complied and her tongue slipped inside his mouth. She began scoping out the territory; feeling the velvet of Mulder's tongue dueling furiously with her own. Dana brought her hands to the sides of his face, pulling herself closer to him (if that was at all possible); deepening the kiss. She tore her lips away from his and they moved from his mouth to his jawline, placing tiny kisses all the way to his ear where she took the earlobe into her mouth.
Mulder groaned and tilted his head back. Bringing his hands to her waist, he held her tightly. "Oh, god..."
She could feel him now; urgent against her hips. She felt his hands creep underneath her shirt and she gasped. Her lips found the hollow of his throat before she stopped.
She groaned. "Mulder... Should we really be doing this?"
He considered the question as his hands continued their exploration. "I don't know," he replied. His right hand found her breasts and ran his tumb over the tip of one. Dana sucked in her breath. "How does it feel to you?"
She closed her eyes. "Damn good," she grunted. "And that wasn't fair at all."
Mulder chuckled. "All's fair in love and war Agent Scully," he replied.
"No holds barred?"
"None at all."
She looked up at him and smiled. "My kind of game." She pushed her hips into his and he groaned; his head dropping back.
"Unh... Scully..."
She started on the buttons of his shirt; repeating the motion with her hips over and over again.
If she didn't stop that soon, he was going to explode. "Scully..."
She smiled and ignored him.
"Scully!" Mulder grabbed her waist tightly and turned over so she was underneath him.
She looked up at him innocently. "I wasn't finished," she said, reaching for his buttons again.
"Here," he said, removing her hands. "Let me help you." He straddled her legs and tore off his shirt, hearing a few buttons pop. He gazed down at her and smiled.
She looked at him with a -what was that for?- look. "Well, that wasn't very fun at all," she stated.
He chuckled and shook his head. "Then let me see if I can jazz it up for you a bit." He bent forward and kissed her throat softly. She tilted her head back; a sigh escaping her. His hands found the buttons of her jean shirt and he undid them; his lips following his hands. When he reached her bra, he kissed each breast through the black satin, his tongue coming out sporadically, then continued his way down her stomach. His fingers fumbled with her belt and he tore out from the belt loops. Scully chuckled.
"Take it easy Mulder," she said. "I'm not going anywhere."
He undid her jeans, sliding them and her underwear from her hips and crept up beside her. "That's what you think," he whispered in her ear, removing her the remainder of her clothes.
The tone of his voice sent a shudder through her body as the implication sunk in. She looked at him, almost losing herself in the depths. Not in her entire four years of working with this man did she even think they'd end up here. Ever. Sure, it had crossed her mind, but she just put that up to a non-existant sex life for... Oh, god... four years.
The realization sent her down Mulder's body, kissing and touching every inch she could reach. His hands found her head; not to guide, but simply to feel. Her mouth ran into the top of his jeans. Not letting it dissuade her any, she used her teeth and pulled the button out of the hole; grabbing the zipper in the same fashion. Mulder chuckled once he realized how she was doing what she was doing and pulled her up to him when she finished removing the rest of his clothing.
He gazed into her blue eyes and stroked her cheek with his thumb. They both lay there naked, for a minute forgetting their own needs and just admiring what was in front of them. She reached her arm around his waist and held him to her, burying her face underneath his chin.
"God I love you Fox Mulder," she said, more in the form of a whisper.
Mulder responded by pulling her into another kiss. When he drew back, she was smiling.
"I guess that means the feeling's mutual?" she wondered.
He chuckled and kissed his way to her breasts. "There aren't words to describe it Dana," he replied. He took one into his mouth and she arched her back.
"God..." she moaned, bringing a hand to the back of his head.
Mulder kissed the valley between her breasts and was surprised when she pulled him up to face her. She kissed him hard and he groaned softly. He pulled away and kissed her jaw, moving to her ear. Her hands ran over his back as he took her ear into his mouth, nibbling it gently.
"Mulder..." she breathed.
He ignored her and continued suckling her ear.
She groaned, digging her nails into his shoulders. "Mulder... please..."
He looked up at her; her pale face beautiful in the soft light, her eyes closed, waiting as patiently as she could for him. Seeing her frustration, he nudged her thighs apart and set himself between her legs. His fingers slid down her face and he held his breath as he slid into her; releasing it once he was fully buried. He looked down at her and his breath caught in his throat at the sight. Her head was tilted back, her throat bared to him. She held her eyes closed and her mouth slightly open.
"Oh, god..." she groaned softly.
Mulder continued to look down at her until she opened her eyes and gazed up at him. She smiled at him reassuringly and shifted her hips; telling him wordlessly to move. He complied and slid out and into her again, slowly. She bit her lip and clutched at his shoulders; feeling the familiar feeling build in her stomach. Mulder buried his head in the hollow of her shoulder, repeating the movement over and over. He turned his head and took her earlobe between his teeth. A soft whimper escaped her lips and she tilted her head to the side; giving him more access.
Her hands ran along his sides; feeling his smooth skin and finding his buttocks. She kneaded them gently; evoking a moan from Fox. She pulled him deep into her and he cried out softly. She turned her head, pulling her ear out of his mouth and pressing her lips to his jaw line; just in front of his ear. He tried to move, but she held him still. Concentrating on the feel of him, she shifted her hips, hearing him moan. She finally permitted him to continue, keeping her lips against his skin. She whispered one word softly which sent his mind reeling.
"Faster."
Mulder brought his lips to hers and stepped up the tempo. She moaned into his mouth and lifted her hips to meet him. He never realized it would feel this good to be inside her. Sure, he'd thought about it... A lot. But it had just never occurred to him.
A soft cry escaped Dana's lips and her nails pressed into his back. Realizing she was close, Fox thrust himself faster, driving into the heart of her. She groaned each time he pushed himself into her, which sparked his arousal even further. Feeling himself build steadily, Mulder rolled over so she was lying over him and bucked his hips.
Dana bared her weight on her elbows, leaning over so her cheek brushed his. She tried her best to keep up with him; move her hips in time, but he was too frantic. Succumbing to the pure ecstasy of the act, Dana felt herself riding high; each thrust in constant contact with her point of pleasure. She whimpered softly as he drove into her and finally, she slid into the undertow. She ground her hips into his and cried out sharply. Her eyes closed and Mulder slowed himself slightly, allowing her to ride the waves for as long as she could. She finally dropped her head under his; her forehead resting on his shoulder.
Fox turned his head slightly, running his fingers along her cheek.
"I love you Dana," he whispered.
Dana raised her head and looked at him for a brief minute before covering his mouth with her own. She brought her hand to the side of his face and her tongue danced with his in almost a possessive manor. Unable to stand it any longer, Mulder started moving again. Scully sucked in a deep breath and he rolled her over, picking up speed once she was settled. Her hands found his shoulders and clutched at them, letting him take her wherever he wanted. She leaned up and kissed him again, hoping to help him out. It did. Mulder sped up and thrust himself into her as he had before. Scully studied the look of pleasure on his face; the thin sheen of sweat that covered his entire body.
Oh, he was close. God, he was so close. He couldn't imagine that he could go any faster than this. She proved him wrong. Dana took his shoulders and pulled herself up to his face, bringing her tongue out and licking the sweat from his cheek to his ear. When she took his earlobe into her mouth and nibbled it gently, he went crazy.
Thrusting himself faster and faster, Mulder finally came inside her with a loud cry. He collapsed on top of her and panted heavily. When he could talk, he didn't even bother looking at her.
"That was incredibly cruel," he breathed into the pillow.
Scully chuckled. "Hey. You said no holds barred."
"That was meant for me."
He looked up at her with a lopsided smile. There was no need for words, there never had been. The two of them had such a rapport, that when they didn't want anyone to hear what they were saying, they simply let their eyes do the talking. And it always worked.
Mulder wrapped his arms around her waist and rolled over so she was lying over him. He didn't want to crush her, but he didn't want to let her go. Dana brought her hand to his face and trailed her fingers down his cheek, reveling in the feel. She touched his lips and smiled when his mouth curved into a grin. Leaning forward, she touched her lips to his. Fox brought a hand up and tangled his fingers in her hair; pressing her to him.
They were both breathing heavily when they parted. Mulder grabbed the discarded blanket from beside them and draped it across her back. Scully nuzzled her head into the hollow of his neck; her arms moving around his shoulders.
Fox stared at the ceiling for a minute, thinking his partner was asleep until she spoke.
"Can you believe what we just did?"
Mulder sighed. "Actually I can," he replied. "What about you?"
Dana dragged a hand over his chest; her fingers dancing over the soft curls. "I just can't stop thinking--"
Mulder laughed. "That was your problem since we first met," he told her. She raised herself on her arms to look into his face. He smiled and touched her cheek. "Don't think," he said softly. He kissed her gently and looked at her. "Feel."
Dana smiled and kissed him again, feeling her eyelids close. She lowered herself to his chest again and closed her eyes. Mulder felt her sigh and settled in; his arms coming around her. He knew what she was going to say. I would be so hard to hold a relationship, but damn it, there was no way he was going to let anything take her away from him again.
Mulder stirred silently and opened his eyes. There was a faint rumble in the background. He felt something move against his chest and he looked down at the redhead in his arms. His heart skipped a beat at the sight of her; her face unlined and peaceful. Her right arm was draped lazily over him; her breath coming long and even; brushing across the curls.
Succumbing to the urge, he reached down and stroked her cheek gently. Dana shifted and made a small noise, snuggling closer to his warmth. He smiled and leaned down to kiss her hair softly. Scully groaned and opened her eyes.
"Hey there," Fox said quietly.
She smiled. "Hi." She cleared her throat. "What time is it?"
"Six thirty," he replied. His heart practically leapt into his throat when he heard the phone ring on the bedside table. He reached for the receiver and snatched it off the cradle. "Hello?" he asked hoarsely, Scully had taken more out of him than he thought. He cleared his throat. No one was answering. "Hello?" he asked again, this time his voice clear.
"Mulder?"
The shock was purely evident in Joanne Thornton's voice and Mulder cringed. He knew they would have to tell someone about their new found relationship, but he didn't think he'd have to so soon.
The Brazilian took the receiver away from her ear and stared at it incredulously. After blinking a few times, she brought it back to her ear.
"Do you know it's six thirty?" she asked.
Mulder lifted his hand to his face and squeezed the bridge of his nose. "Yeah I do," he replied. "There's a clock right here."
"Yeah, but in the morning?"
"What do you want Jo?" he asked.
-Sure, he's holding something back.- "Well, I need to talk to Dana. She... wouldn't happen to be there, would she?"
Fox cleared his throat again. "Yeah, just a second." He covered the receiver with his hand and looked at Scully.
"It's for you," he said.
Dana frowned and took the phone from him. "Hello?" she asked.
Jo smiled. -Oh, this is going to be fun.- "Hey Dana," she said.
Scully's eyes widened and flew to Mulder. -Oh man.- "What's wrong?"
"Um, I was just wondering if you knew where I left my shades."
-Shades?- Scully thought, raising an eyebrow. -She calls me at six thirty in the morning about sunglasses?-
"You know, when I was in Washington last week and dropped by? Did I leave my sunglasses there?"
Dana shook her head. This was too much at this time in the morning. "I don't know."
"Would you ask Tarzan for me?"
"Sure." Scully looked at Mulder who was watching her. "Jo wants to know where she left her sunglasses."
"The table beside the door at your place," Mulder replied.
"You hear that?" Scully asked.
Jo smiled. -Just leave them alone Jo,- she told herself. "Yeah, thanks... I'll see ya'."
There was a click and Scully handed the receiver back to Mulder who hung it up. She looked at him with confused and scared eyes.
"You think she--"
Mulder nodded. "Yeah," he replied. "She knows. We weren't exactly denying it. And being caught in bed, so to speak, doesn't help the argument any." His arm snaked around her shoulders and he pulled her closer to him; pulling the blanket up. Scully rested her head on his shoulder. The pair was silent and a minute later, drops of water started pelting the window. Mulder looked over to the glass.
"Here comes the rain again," he said with a disappointed sigh.
Dana looked up at him. "Come on," she said. She reached her hand up and turned his face to hers. "The rain isn't all that bad," she told him and smiled. "I kinda like it."
Fox returned the grin and leaned down to kiss her. -All right- he thought. -It's not *all* bad.-
"Here comes the rain again,
Falling on my head like a memory,
Falling on my head like a new emotion."
